I’ve always felt that balancing work and fun is extremely important. We must take time out for ourselves so that we will be rejuvenated for our work. So many become “workaholics” and become burned out. Life is too short to let that happen.
Especially when you have a child. Every second I have with my little girl that I cherish. I will never have any regrets because I know when I look back at her childhood it will be a happy and fulfilled one with many special memories that we’ve made together. Memories do not have to be big events. Simple things like cooking or baking together... or running together in the rain and jumping in mud puddles. You never know what will be etched in their memory. I strive to make it all good. Life throws you curve balls of course, but our children are watching how we handle those curve balls. So the ups and the downs are equally important raising a child. When you look at it like that it is empowering and the great parent in you comes out. We’ve all heard “they grow up so fast!” Yes, it seems that they do, but when you are right there with them it is amazing to watch!
Fortunately I am experiencing longevity as far as my career. I just love creating anything that moves people in a positive way. Modeling has always been such a passion for me and I have truly been living a dream for 25 years being in front of the camera! Creating thousands of images over the years, working and internationally traveling the world doing what I love has been amazing! When someone comments that a certain photo of me does not look like me I take it as a big compliment. Being a “chameleon” is fun and I’ve been referred as that in the “biz”.
I know you were the Ballroom Champion several years in a row, tell us how dancing keeps you in such great shape
When you dance you use so many core muscles. That keeps my tummy tight and flat. I do a lot of squat type movements to keep my legs nice and toned and strong. Keeping weights, an exercise ball and exercise bands around the house is important as well.
What are some of your diet and exercise secrets?
My secret to staying thin is to not over eat. As soon as I feel full I stop. I am never stretching out my stomach. Eating lighter meals throughout the day really works. I also try to stay away from too much sugar. My midnight snack which I have most every night is honey yogurt with natural crunchy peanut butter and a little honey drizzled over it. My daughter loves this too!
What advice would you give to single moms out there who don't have time to exercise?
My daughter and I enjoy bike riding together. It’s fun and really great exercise. During the summer when she is not in school I take my computer to the pool and work while she swims.
To stay in shape, I workout regularly and eat healthy foods. Stretching and yoga everyday even if it is just around the house is a must for me. I love kickboxing for my cardio and I have a little workout dance routine I do every night at home. Gym workouts are great but my schedule can get pretty hectic with my daughter’s activities and traveling so it’s very important to know some exercises you can do at home.
Do you have any special plans for the holiday season?
We went home for Christmas to my hometown of Seattle, Washington. I still have a lot of friends that I keep in touch with here and love the fresh clean air! We always have a lot of fun! I’m a huge Seattle Seahawks fan and I am going to the game here tomorrow which I am so excited about! I remember last year cheering Seattle on with you and Ronn at The Playboy Mansion. It would be awesome to win the Super Bowl again!
