Fashion expert Paola Cipollina is also a very interesting artist who brings flair to everything she does.
Paola, you have been a very different artist for many years, what is spiritual art to you?
The spiritual art, for me, is a way to get in touch with the very part of my soul. The world always keeps you busy with a lot of material temptations... sometimes you need to regenerate your mind and your soul. To paint is my way to meditate and to create a real, spiritual silence in me.
I know your experience has been also with fashion and opening fashion schools all over Italy, please tell us how that has happened and what inspired you with fashion?
I started very early to have a passion for the fashion indusrty: I remember I was 16 and, when I wasn't
going to school, I was attending fashion courses in Milan (travelling from Genoa, where I was born...). Then at the age of 18 I opened my first fashion school (modelling and fashion design)... my dream was obviously to share with other people my same passion and let them be able to realize their one... Thanks to my undeniably managing nature I came in touch with the greatest Italian stylist (Gucci, Roberta di Camerino, Fiorucci, Beppe Modenese, Pellati, etc...) and I also started collaborating with several fashion companies as a designer and style supervisor. Eventually I've been asked to open fashion schools all over the world (Morocco, Japan, Korea) and after all these years I'm still passionate about teaching the others the way to accomplish and realize themselves!!!
Your husband is a film maker and director, do you see yourself working together with him on both or your passions?
My husabnd and I are living and working together since 1995 and... we're still here: passionate, crazy and alive...! Moreover the fashion industry and the movie business are very close because of the investments, the product placemente opportunities and the managing/organizing nature of the two industries. My husband Max always supported me in my fashion projects and I used to manage almost all the budgets of his productions... I feel like we're a Ying and Yang: we truly complete each other...!
What is your driven passion and what do you desire most for your future endeavors?
My greatest passion is actually to summary all my skills (as a manager, enterpreneur, producer, organizer), in order to make them flow into the same, grandious project... In a nutshell: to establish again the greatness of the real "made in Italy" style, creating a fashion school that could be the new headquarter not just for modelling, but also for new and fresh costume designers, producers, storytellers... I love the renaissance age - it used to be the beacon of the modern and civilized world - and I believe in the deep connection of all the forms of art: the seek of a deeper beauty in the world.
How has being an artist helped your diverse careers in fashion, modeling and art?
To be an artist allows you to have an open mind and to face every issue with a creative attitude that is the winning one most of the times. Being an artist helps you to solve the most great difficulties of life, wathcing things from a different perspective.
You are from Italy but you now live in Los Angeles, has this change been difficult for you as an artist?
Absolutely not...! I love to travel and to adapt my lifestyle to the places in which in go... Moreover I've always found Los Angeles a place full of good vibes and energies! As an artist I like to be receptive and I always am tuned with the environment. Obviously Italy and America are pretty different nations, but I love the both of them!
