sueSue Wong is a fashion designer who has great passion for the business she's created, see why this dynamic woman is an inspiration to anyone who loves fashion.

Sue I love that your designs are so feminine and romantic, what inspires you to create such gorgeous dresses?
I’ve created a very unique, one of a kind SUE WONG look, inspired by the old Hollywood Golden era. I create couture gowns with impeccable workmanship available at everyday prices. I consider myself to be every woman’s couturier.

Twice before my house burned to the ground and I built it back from the ashes, stronger and wiser than before. I believe in the trajectory of the Phoenix and implement it in my life. For as long as I remember, this has driven me indefatigably to establish my own independent voice – devoid of being oppressed by any other individual. I consider myself a Warrior Goddess. I have three patron goddesses: Aphrodite, Artemis and Athena. Aphrodite: the Goddess of Beauty and Love - I worship at her temple every day by doing what I do.

I design because, for and through Beauty. Artemis: the Goddess of Hunting. If I want something, have a goal in mind – I simply go for it! I hunt to achieve a said goal with limitless energy and commitment. I believe in doing whatever it takes to make things work…being a “closer”…otherwise…what’s the point? Athena: Goddess of wisdom, crafts and war – I perceive life as an on-going humble journey of acquiring knowledge and wisdom, surviving and even more importantly learning from lessons that life ushers in and evolving into your higher self. Regarding Goddess of war: everything I do, I do with the utmost excellent in mind. If I have a goal and am going for it and have to endure an entire war to do so, then so be it. Either do something with 110% unwavering commitment…or don’t do it all.

I invest my design philosophy of: BEAUTY ~ MAGIC ~ TRANSFORMATION in each and every one of my gowns. My look is incomparable because it is my very own; my very own design philosophy and my own visual sensibilities steeped (all at once) in mythology and the here and now. Retro has never looked so gorgeously-seductive and arrestingly-beautiful in the here and now.

You seem to design something for everyone and I love that about you. How did you get into the fashion industry at such a young age?
If I could not create, I’d be very unhappy. I consider myself first and foremost an artist and have chosen fashion as my designated artistic, expressive medium. I believe above and beyond that you have to be true to your voice; pay respect and act upon the integrity that you owe to your sense of self, whatever that may be…it has to reflect your inner truth to the point of Divinity. I find that in and through designing and in turn, design has found that in me. Factually, the genesis of my success catapulted me as the designing brains behind Arpeja-California's Young Edwardian line. At the time, Arpeja was billing $3 million. Within two years, while I was at the drawing board, Young Edwardian brought in $52 million. Jack Litt, Arpeja's (then) board chairman shared, "Sue Wong literally turned around this market." If you are true to your calling and are indefatigable about realizing your vision and not compromising on it, then the world is your oyster. Many people tell me I’ve been blessed with such luck. Yes, I do feel very blessed in life, but my professional success has nothing to do with luck. It is the result of countless hours of very hard work and being so devoted to your calling, that success becomes a definite manifestation.

Hollywood glamour speaks volumes with your fashion and you are such an elegant lady yourself, who are some of your favorite stars that you 2 Jane Seymourhave dressed?
I’ve dressed so many successful women in various prominent sectors of society, from Washington DC (Arianna Huffington) to Hollywood, among others: Jessica Biehl, Kim Kardashian, Tyra Banks, Nicole Ricci, Vanessa Williams, Jane Seymour, Kelly Osborne, Anne Hathaway and even a young Miley Cyrus. I don’t have any favorites. My favoritism lies more in the way my gowns sing my design philosophy proud on the red carpet like the unapologetic, living anthem that they are intended and designed to be. I am infinitely determined to spread the gospel of living your inner Goddess that resides within you to its optimal potential. Therein lies my favoritism. It’s in the message that is carried and articulated by a SUE WONG. I’d like to dress Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman. Both women are not only powerful successful actresses; but what intrigues me even more is that their strength and character empowerment is synonymous with the gowns that I design. I create transformative clothing and when a woman puts on a SUE WONG she channels her optimal potential, her Divine self, the Goddess that resides in each and every woman. This, my design philosophy of living the Divine Goddess that lies within a woman, adorning the likes of such very strong women, would be a fascinating observation.

Your designs are available in stores such as, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue around the world. Are there other products that you intend to add to your collection?
I collaborated with English Home, an elite supplier of upscale home furnishings to create an exclusive collection of elegant and inspired bed quilts, cushion covers, curtain panels and fabrics. The inspiration for English Home incorporates the vintage romantic style of my glamorous Red Carpet gowns, and are based upon my core aesthetic of iconic Hollywood glamour of the 1920′s and 1930′s with a modern twist. The initial collaboration features my influence of Deco Asian and Art Deco themes. I also have a SUE WONG collection with Acme Studio: the Talmadge Sue Wong Roller Ball Pen, Eye Glass Case and Business Card Case. There are lots of new and exciting ventures on the horizon. Follow me on my social media platforms and you’ll be the very first to hear of it.

What are your future plans for your brand?
The future of SUE WONG is to become a bigger global brand with an international presence with a heavy foray with the licensing of the SUE WONG name. I just launched my brand new website offering very exciting and new ways in sharing up-to-date news about my designs, inspirations and all things of Quality Art that inspire my life.
