Bobbie Eakes is a former Miss Georgia and soap star that has one amazing voice. See why this songstress has the music in her soul.
You have been a performer your entire life it seems Bobbie. Is music your true passion?
Music has played such an enormous role in my life and it is truly a passion of mine. Even when my career had taken the turn where I was working full time on television, I never turned my back on my music and it helped me enjoy my “day job” even more because I felt more fulfilled in general.
We have loved you for years on "All My Children and "The Bold and The Beautiful" Do you have plans to continue acting?
Yes! I want to be like Betty White and work for as long as I’m able. Whether it’s TV, film or live theater, I plan to keep acting even while spending more time performing as a singer. In our changing industry, that means I may have to create those projects for myself and I look forward to meeting that challenge.
Your voice has such range and you can sing anything and sing it well. What style of music is your favorite?
Wow, thank you! I really spend a lot of time vocalizing in order to do the kinds of songs I like to do. My musical tastes really run the gamut and it’s really hard to name just one particular genre that I prefer, but I can probably narrow down my favorites to R&B and Country.
I know you had a hit album with Jeff Tracta, any plans for another duet with him?
I do hope so and Jeff and I always talk about doing another project together. Next year is our 20th anniversary as duet partners so I think it would be really cool to do something to commemorate that. Perhaps a reunion tour in The Netherlands and Scandinavia where our music was first so well received would be a fun thing to do.
Your recent solo concert in Palm Springs really showcased your career visually and vocally. It was very nicely done, any chance of taking that show on the road?
I do plan to take the show to cities all across the country and even abroad. But first, I’m headlining the main showrooms on some cruises beginning in January and then. by the Spring, I plan to have some other dates lined up for concerts. I’ll keep you posted!
How do you stay in such great shape?
I finally started adding weight training to my usual aerobic heavy routine, and that has made a big change in my body and in my general sense of well being. I also think it is important to mix up your activity and do lots of different kinds of things so I hike, bike and run to stay fit.
You have a nice sense of fashion and was a beauty queen, any beauty tips you can share with us?
I learned a lot from pageants, but the most important thing they taught me was how to appear confident even if you are feeling a bit insecure on the inside. A smile goes a long way in how people perceive you and definitely makes you more beautiful to others. If I had a daughter, I would say smile more and always wear your sunscreen!
You have a wonderful relationship with your husband David, what's your secret?
David and I have been together for a long time and though it certainly isn’t always easy, we laugh a lot together and respect each other. I’m so proud when I hear people tell me how much they like my husband and believe me, I hear it a LOT! David is kind to everyone he meets or encounters. That impressed me when I met him in 1987 and it still means so much to me now.
