Peggy Tanous made a splash on the "Housewives of Orange County" and now has a fitness video out to share how she keeps her gorgeous figure.
Peggy you were a regular on the Housewives of Orange County, tell us how that reality show changed your life?
Yes, I was one of the stars on The Real Housewives of Orange County season 6 and part of season 7! I started in the business around ten years old acting and then started modeling around age 15. I then moved into hosting. Before having my two girls I was hosting two of my own lifestyle shows in OC. Once my daughter London was born I quit working to be a full time mommy. After having my two girls and going through post Partum depression I was really missing working, so when housewives approached me I thought it was the perfect way to get back into the business. Little did I know how big the housewives franchise had become. Here I had worked most my life in the entertainment business without much recognition, but once on housewives I became an instant celebrity and could not go anywhere without being recognized. Not only has it changed my life in that regard, but it has also opened doors for me with other work, press, charities and people.
Would you want to do another reality show?
Yes I definitely am open to doing another reality show and am currently in production on one I created. I have been asked to be on two other reality shows recently, but I'm not willing to do just any show to be back on TV. I have to be excited about it and believe in what the show is about.
What do you do to stay in such amazing shape?
Well a lot of women are going to hate this answer, but I don't have to do too much to stay in shape because I have great genes. My mom is 100 lbs. after having five kids. I started working out my junior year of high school to try and add muscle tone to my skinny frame. I got hooked and ever since have loved working out. It makes me feel better and releases endorphins. It really helped when I was going through the Post Partum. I try to work out 3-4 times a week and I eat very healthy. My workouts usually consist of 30-40 minutes of cardio and then 15-20 minutes of weights, stretching or floor exercises like abs, plank etc. I like to mix things up and some days do yoga, Pilates, go for a hike, walk along the beach or workout to a DVD.
I understand you have a new fittness video that's rather unique, tell us about that.
Yes, I just released my own fitness DVD! It is the first of its kind. I use my toddler as my weight and resistance! I actually came up with the idea while filming an episode of housewives. I was working out with my trainer and my daughter London kept coming outside and jumping on me while I was trying to workout. I decidd that would be a great workout using my child as my weight and resistance. Being a busy mom I don't have a ton of time to workout and there is always the question of what to do with your child when you workout. This conquers both problems and it targets every body part in just 30 minutes! Moms that have babies can do the workout with the baby strapped to them in a carrier. And this is a great workout to do even if you don't have a child. You can do it with ankle weights on or holding a small medicine ball. Currently the DVD is available on Amazon and my site www.peggytanous.com. Soon it will be available in various stores and on one of the shopping networks.
What projects do you have in the works now?
I have quite a few exciting things in the works currently! I have a new reality show I mentioned above in production that I created, will be a producer on and a cast member. It is a docu series based around a business that has never been seen on TV before. The main cast members are myself and five other women. That's about all I can say for now regarding the show, but stay tuned! I also have had my own show for awhile on You Tube called Positivity with Peggy and it just got picked up to start airing on a small health network! It will probably start airing this Spring. The show is talk show style centered around health, fitness and holistic living. Furthermore, my husband and I have been working on our own wine label for awhile now and it looks like we will finally be releasing something by summer! And finally, I'm starting to work on a book I've been wanting to write for awhile. It will have some stories of going through Post Partum, but it will encompass everything from being in entertainment, living holistically, raising kids and keeping a marriage alive after ten years of being together!
