I grew up watching Barbara Eden as Jeannie on "I dream of Jeannie" and she is a dynamic lady. Beautiful inside and out she proves age is just a number. Thank you Barbara for making us all laugh and being so incredible!
Barbara did you ever think "I Dream of Jeannie" would become such an iconic figure when you were shooting the series in the 60s?
"To be quite honest, I don’t often think that way about most things. I work from day to day and focus on my work. During that time I was happy to be working. I enjoyed myself and I enjoyed the work. What would become of it in the future was the farthest thing on my mind. Though, looking back now I am so very happy that it made so many people happy. That is one of the biggest rewards, knowing that something you did has had a positive effect on people."
I know you have worked with some amazing men like Elvis Presley, who was the most fun to work with in your career?
"Tony Randal! He was such a character! There were many long nights filming on the MGM back-lot where we would pass time during scenes playing Gin Rummy, telling jokes. Lots and lots of laughter, but he was a rascal! I couldn’t understand how he kept beating me at Gin. Then I realized, the wise guy had me sitting in front of a mirror! He could SEE my hand every time!"
You look amazing, what are some of your beauty secrets?
"You are very kind! The best advice I can give you is to take care of yourself. Eat well, exercise and always wash your face and be sure to moisturize! The trick is to start at an early age and stick with it. Try to avoid extensive sun exposure and if you must, always wear a good sun block."
You seemed to have done it all, is there anything you want to do that you haven't had the chance to do yet?
"Oh, I don’t know! I love to work! I like doing new things. I find the excitement comes from trying something new."
If you had a genie that wanted to give you three wishes, what would they be?
"Well, world peace goes without saying. But truthfully, all I could really wish for, or hope for is happiness for everyone. Times are tough for so many people, with all the troubles in the world. So happiness and peace would be my wish."
