Renee' Tenison was Playboy's first African American Playmate of The Year and enjoyed a long successful career as a model with her identical twin sister Rosie. Devin: You were a successful model, along with your identical twin sister Rosie for many years, what got you into fashion?
Renee: I had a successful modeling career that was coming to an end. I had forgot about my passion for fashion until I watch an episode of Oprah’s show find your passion, I thought about what she said and I said to my self if a genie came down from a bottle and said I will give you one wish but it has nothing to do with modeling or acting what would it be, and I thought back to when Rosie and I were growing up we designed our clothing for school and made these wild outfits and I had so much fun creating them, what if I had a career in fashion. That day I went online and researched FIDM and applied shortly after. I received an Associated of Arts in Apparel Manufacturing Management.
Devin: How many Varga Stores are there now? Any chance of expanding outside of the USA?
Renee: We have a total of four stores. Our next store will be Topanga or The Groove. We are contacted by aleast 5 to 10 malls per year that would Like us to open Varga store in their mall. We are very selective to whom we chose. At this time we are focused on the US market only but we are Currently developing our online which will give us the reach of the our Foreign markets.
Devin: Are you directly involved in designing clothing for your stores, if not, would you ever want to?
Renee: We do have some relationship with some our manufactures and that allows us to pick from their fabric books and create designs that our exclusively for Varga. My degree is in this field so at some point I’m Sure we will create a line for our Varga customer called Varga Black Label That will be our designs that Rosie and I create! This excites me to no End because this is what drives us!
Devin: Do you have go to favorites in your closet and what are some of the things we can find in a Varga store?
Renee: In my closet I have several Audrey dress’s in many colors, this dress is a Varga classic it looks good on 
every body type. It’s pictured below with the model wearing the sunglasses. I also have tons of chiffon tops. I just Love the prints and they are comfortable to wear all day. I love sequins skirts and tops.
Devin: What are some of your favorite accessories?
Renee: I personally love feather earrings, gold bracelet’s and necklace's. I have Tons of them! Don’t be afraid to over accessories. I like to wear earrings, rings and bracelets all in one out fit. It’s your own personal fashion statement so make it count!
Devin: What are some basic fashion tips you can share with us?
Renee: First an foremost you have to feel comfortable in what your wearing, women can not wear all things. We at Varga are very good at looking at women’s body types and giving them the fashion tips that will work best for them. We try to hire former stylists so they are very familiar with all fashions and can provide the Varga Customer with the best customer service. We do a loyal following because our Varga customers are always receiving compliments on their clothing which keeps them coming back for more!
Devin: I personally have always admired your style and you always look fabulous, having an identical twin, do you guys have the same taste in fashion?
Renee: Rosie and I have very similar taste. We like color, which looks good on our dark skin. I love zig zag prints, my favorite designers our Mission and Diane Von Furstenberg. Their designs are timeless!
Devin: What does the future hold for Varga and the Tension twins? Any other additions you guys are venturing into?
Renee: We are always trying to expand our company and our brand, moving forward we will launch our web store and open a new store at the end of this year. I would like to present our own exclusive brand of Varga clothing in Magic and have it picked up by Nordstrom’s or Macy’s. I truly love what I do and although my sister and I work 12 to 14 hours days 5 days a week, I love it and it’s my passion so it doesn’t seem like work at all!
