"You know actress, “CSI Miami” star, Sofia Milos from the many television roles she’s done, but this lady is already rocking the big screen in 2018!"
1. Sofia you recently did a movie, please tell us a bit about it.
I recently completed working on a film noir called FAKE NEWS, in which I star with Eric Roberts, Marty Kove and John Savage as detective Jennifer Stern. This character is in a perennial conflict with her unconventional older half brother Max, a controversial reporter who's father and her first mentor is in the police force until he raped her. Also co starring are John Barrymore, Tori Higginson and Jesse Kove. FAKE NEWS was written and produced by Sam Morris and shot in the Los Angeles area. The movie might come out this year sometime. I also worked on SANGRE NUEVA, starring Eric Estrada, a new drama series I agreed to join, as Mafia Boss Christina Sabatini for its innovative approach in making things happen in this ever so changing industry of ours, and for this diverse group of artists collaborating . SANGRE NUEVA is to be shown on Amazon Prime . A great new Platform which allows more artists the chance to get their series on the air with less road blocks, much less bureaucracy and budget involved. “Alonso” is an Italian comedy I filmed while in Rome, called ODISSEA NELL' OSPIZIO featuring four well known now senior famous Italian comedians, in which I play the stars ( Jerry Cala') ex wife and it should be out anytime this year as well. Probably a fun summer movie to catch.
Devin: You are always so busy and this all sounds super exciting. I worked with Erik Estrada on a movie back in the 90s, such a great guy.
2. Are you still doing television these days?
I currently still have a thriller called “Give Me My Baby”on the air. Its a Lifetime movie, in which I star with Kelly Sullivan. I play the Machiavellian character in this one, a famed fertility Doctor who is helping Kelly Sullivan and Gabriel Hogans character to get artificially impregnated. And then some more projects directed by Danny J Boyle and shot in Los Angeles. It's been having really good ratings on the Lifetime movie network. And fortunately, the perennial re runs of my years on CSI:Miami as detective Yelina Salsa are keeping me alive daily on an international platform. I'm ever so grateful to all my fans from it and followers around the world who love and support me.
A few months ago I guest starred on Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders that aired on CBS, in which I played Greek police officer Alex Balaban, opposite Gary Sinise and Alana De La Garza . This was a bit of a reunion of my CSI:Miami times. Then later NBC aired my episode of Chicago Justice, a Dick Wolf drama, in which I took on the recurring role of defense attorney Mary Ellis. Directed by Eriq La Salle ( former star of ER now turned director) and starring Philip Winchester and Carl Weathers. Unfortunately, the show got canceled recently, so I'm looking for a new tv show this year as my New Year's resolution!
Devin: I love the strong characters you play! I’m sure a new series for you is coming soon. You are such a great role model for strong ethnic women that may aspire acting.
3. What is the most difficult role you have ever done?
The word 'Difficult' has a negative connotation of something hard to confront. But I like roles that challenge me as an artist . Roles that have depth and make me confront and use life experiences that have been challenging, so I can overcome them in present time through my character objectives and win with it. If nothing else personally, each time. And as an actor, I like all kinds of characters that lend itself to the journey and so to inspire one way or another. Whether it be a comedic or a dramatic role. The most fun I had was on the “Sopranos” set, as my recurring role of the Neapolitan mafia boss, Annalisa Zucca. And on the Larry David unscripted show, "Curb Your Enthusiasm,” where I also had a recurring role as Richard Lewis's girlfriend. That's when I discovered I love doing improv. Perhaps, the most technically challenging task was to indoctrinate myself to extensive courtroom legal language and long courtroom scene dialogues to memorize, while ridding myself of any trace of an accent all within three days before starting to shoot on Chicago Justice, as American defense attorney Mary Willis. That was difficult, but that was cool because I stepped it up and I did it.
Devin: You know Ronn and I watched the all 6 seasons of “Sopranos” when we were in Belgium and loved your role in there. We were so surprised to see you! I’m sure that was fun!
4. Is there any role that you want to do that you haven’t done already?
I've done a lot of television and some films in 25 yrs, but there are many I still would love to do . Many brilliant actors and directors that I would love to work with on the big or small screen. Many brilliant writers I would love to have the privilege and honor to bring their character on page to life and shine with. Whether they are romantic comedies to thrillers, dramas or action. My appetite is not limited here. I love movies like Woody Allen’s, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” or “Leaving Las Vegas,” of two troubled characters meeting and falling in love, by Mike Figgis. Pedro Almodovar’s, “VOLVER” was a favorite of mine. I would love to work with geniuses like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, or Alan Sorkin, who's latest, “Mollys Game,” I loved. I also appreciate revivals of some amazing Italian classics that were performed by Sofia Loren and Marcella Mastroiani and my icon Anna Magnani; that would all definitely be a dream come true. I love playing strong women with a vulnerable troubled secret, or in comedies from a flamboyant spit fire, to a femme fatale, or maybe I'm to play an overworked mother and professional trying to juggle it all on one finger. I don't know, so many possibilities just gets me exited for my next role.
Devin: I’m excited for your next role! We all love and adore you Sofia and can see your wonderful talent will continue to shine.
5.What are your New Years eve resolutions?
Oh my list of resolutions and goals is seriously too long to list here. LOL, I figure if you have many goals and only a third of them come true this year, then you are still ahead of the game and winning! I usually take the first day of the year to reflect on all the things I want to change, or get rid of that don't help me grow or expand, be true to myself, or simply be happy. I set new goals and things I am going to do that contribute to me achieving these goals. And I love doing that on a long power walk. One of my resolutions is to be open to and attract “Mr. Right” into my life. The man who will be the King of my heart, who will treat me like his Goodess. And hopefully he's single, sane and honest, because you know, I do believe in marriage!
Devin: Well looks like you are on the right track to succeeding at anything you put your mind to. We wish you the best of luck in 2018. Thank you for taking the time to share a bit of your amazing life with us!”
